How to play Rummy 500
Rummy 500, also called 500 Rum, is played with one 52-card deck. With two players everyone gets 13 cards, with three or four players 7 cards. The rest is the stock; one card starts the discard pile, which is spread out so every card can be seen.
Your turn. Draw the top card of the stock or take from the discard pile. You may take a card deep in the pile if you meld it right away, together with all the cards above it. Then put down sets (three or four of a rank) and runs (three or more in a row of one suit), lay off cards on any meld on the table, and end your turn with a discard.
Going out. The hand ends when a player has no cards left, or when the stock runs out.
| Ace | 15 points |
| 10, Jack, Queen, King | 10 points |
| 2 to 9 | face value |
| Ace low in A-2-3 (house rule: 1, 5 or 15) | 5 points |
Cards you melded or laid off count for you, cards left in your hand count against you. The first player to 500 points wins.
